Results of the Neutering Month & Pet Welfare Day
Over the month between April 10th & May 9th we gave out 200 vouchers to pet owners to have their animals neutered at no cost to them. The majority of the vouchers have been used already which means that there are now nearly 200 neutered animals that may not have otherwise been done. The majority of animals were dogs, as we expected. The total was made up of 119 dogs, 56 cats, 24 rabbits and 1 ferret.
On May 5th we held a Pet Welfare Day in Eastfield where we saw 69 people with 63 animals. The animals were all seen by the vet from Alma Veterinary Surgery and, where needed, given flea & worm treatment. Advice was given to most owners, sometimes on diet or exercise and often on specific issues that the animal has. Of the 63 animals we microchipped 47 and gave over 50 vouchers for neutering (included in the figures above). We had a very successful day and helped a lot of owners to help their pets.
We would like to thank Heather, Joanne and Becky from Alma’s, Leanne the RSPCA Animal Welfare Officer, all the volunteers and committee members who helped.
We are hoping to do another event in a different area of our branch – we just need to find a venue – so watch this space!
