Volunteers
Scarborough and District RSPCA branch is totally independent, self-funding and responsible for all our own business decisions, at the same time we follow national policies and guidelines. Our Committee members meet monthly and are responsible for the decision making. We always need volunteers to do home visits, work in the shop and to help with events.
The Volunteer Application form can be dowloaded here: Vol App Form 2013
Home Visitors We are always looking for people to carry out the many home visits on potential adopters of our dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs. The home visitor goes into the home of a potential adopter, by appointment, to assess the home environment and family to ensure that we find the right homes for our animals. They always have the full backup of their coordinator and will be fully trained before being left to their own devices!
Shop Volunteers Our charity shop is located in Scarborough (see shop page) and is a busy outlet as well as doubling up as our headquarters. The shop is run by an employed manager but apart from that, we rely totally on our excellent volunteers. Training will be given if you fancy putting in a few hours here and there!
Event Staff Every year we hold events in the town such as our Dog Show, Spring and Winter Fairs. We need help from volunteers at these events to run stalls, collect money, help set up and clear away. It is always good fun at our events and a great way to get out and about and meet new people, PLUS you get to help raise money to help our animals.
Flyer/poster distributors, committee members (usually derived from long standing volunteers), general fundraising…. just ask, there’s something for you! To apply to become a volunteer print out and complete the application form and return to the RSPCA Shop at 8a-10 Victoria Road, Scarborough YO11 1SD.
